My wife and I have used what we consider to be the best washer dryer combo for more almost 6 months and we love it. Because I know we all enjoy options, I’ll also share a few of the other options out there. Some of those options have a few more bells and whistles and some are a few bucks cheaper. Let’s get started.
Panda Small Compact Portable Washing Machine with Spin Dryer
We will start with the cheapest and most portable option of the bunch, the Panda Compact Washing Machine. It can easily be moved from your apartment to RV and back again. The Panda includes a drainage pump with an external hose, When you are in a drain cycle, just hang the hose over a sink or tub and you are good to go.
-Small Portable washing machine goes anywhere with only 28lbs weight
-Easy to operate, and powerful Just fill with water and set timer
-One side of washing, one side of spinning
-Washer capacity: 6-7 lbs (other washer/dryers on the list hold about 15 lbs)
-Spin dryer capacity: 3 lbs (other washer/dryers on the list hold about 11 lbs)
-Descent size washer
-Much cheaper than other washer/dryer options
-Spin Dryer is half the size of the washer (so you usually have to spin twice)
-Some reviewers complained about leaking
-Laundry will still likely need to be hung on a rack overnight to completely dry. This can be especially hard with an RV if the weather is not nice outside or campground does not allow it.
Westland WDC7100XC Ventless Combo Washer/Dryer
Our next RV washer dryer combo comes from Westland. This combo looks and feels more like a traditional washer/dryer than the Panda option. It plugs into your existing 120 volt outlet on the RV and the water/drain needs to be tied into your existing plumbing.
If you have the money and space for it, but don’t have any way of installing a vent, this is going to be your best option. We looked into this ventless washer dryer combo but since we had a way to install a vent, we decided to go with the 2100xc mentioned later. This unit can hold 2.0 cubic ft of clothes. A traditional home washer will hold around 4.0 cubic feet.
Out of the Rv washer dryer combos I’ll share, this one has the worst reviews on Amazon.
From what I have read, this is largely due to people who expect it to dry like a traditional dryer (it won’t) or people who have had warranty issues like the door coming open or electrical issues. Regardless of the reviews, I tend to believe this unit is your best option if you can’t possibly install a vent.
-10 Wash Cycles
-3 Timed Dry Cycles
-1 year limited mfg. warranty (extendable to 5 years)
-33 x 25 x 33 inches
-Washer Capacity: 15 lbs (2.0 cubic ft)
-Dryer Capacity: 11 lbs (2.0 cubic ft)
-Holds 15 lbs of clothes compared to 7 lbs in the Panda
-Permanent solution. No hooking and unhooking
-Washes and dries clothes with one setting
-Long dry time of 60-120 minutes.
-Some reviewers have complained about warranty issues
-Will not dry as well as a vented unit, but will dry better than Panda spin dryer
Westland WD2100XC White Vented Combo Washer/Dryer
We’ve now arrived at what I believe is the best RV washer dryer combo. We have used two of these in two different RVs. One was installed in a fifth wheel and vented outside. The other came installed on a motorhome we bought. It seemed crazy to voluntarily drill a giant hole in the side of our fifth wheel, but it was well worth it once it was done.
This washer dryer combo can dry clothes much faster than the ventless WDC7100XC combo and it can hold more twice the capacity of the Panda combo. I spent weeks amazed that I could “set it and forget it” when it came to washing and drying clothes. No more waiting for the washer to be done, moving the clothes to a dryer, and then setting the dryer. Pop the clothes in the unit, set the washer and dryer settings and viola, the clothes finish on their own.
Here’s a video walkthrough on the settings for the WD2100XC we have in our motorhome:
-Washer size: 15 lbs
-Dryer capacity: 11 lbs
-33 1/8″H x 23 1/2″W x 22 5/8″D
-120-volt, 11 amp
-Automatic prewash, detergent, fabric softener and bleach dispenser
-Detergent recycling system
-Automatic load balance control
-Automatic water level control
-Dual tumble direction
-Low Heat option
-Low Spin option
-Extra Rinse option
-Wash Temperature selector
-Dry Time selector
-Selectable Cotton, Synthetics, Wool Dry
-Cotton Heavy-Duty Wash cycles: Super, Heavy, Regular, Express
-Permanent Press Wash cycles: Heavy, Regular, Delicates, Express
-Gentle Wash cycles: Silk, Wool
-Large capacity washer/dryer for such a compact unit
-Dries faster than the ventless combo
-Washes and dries in one sitting
-Quiet other than shaking the camper a bit on spin cycles
-Moderately long dry time because it is on 120v. Usually 60-80 minutes
-Must install it into existing plumbing & electrical (just plug it in if an outlet is close)
-Must install a vent if one does not already exist
-Have to securely shut the door each time. It takes more of a push than you would think it needs. If you don’t shut it securely the washer will not start so there is no fear of it popping open during the wash, but just a minor annoyance to note.
